Board Elections
Application Process
WIB’s Executive Board Elections have been carefully designed and structured to give everyone a fair opportunity and reward those who put in the careful time and effort. We have structured the procedures to emulate one of a hiring process.
The application is short and simple consisting of a resume, cover letter, and essay question. The application is meant to identify those who would be an asset on the executive team.
What does this look like? We will be rating applications on the following criteria:
Effort
Relevance
Originality
For more information on application success, read tips for success below or feel free to ask any current board members.
It will also be important for interested applicants to meet with current board members. Each current board member has the opportunity to put in a formal recommendation for who they think should take over their current position. Be sure to set up a coffee date for an extra boost in the decision process! This is not necessary but will provide you as an applicant more information about the position.
Interview Process
If selected for an interview, sign-ups will occur and you will be emailed a link. Interviews will be offered in the evenings. These interviews will be 15-30 minutes on Zoom or In-Person. Interviews are an opportunity to learn more about your goals for the club and get a better sense of who you are off paper.
Interviews will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
Preparation
Relevance (Aligns with position needs)
Passion
While this process might come off as daunting at first, do not be afraid! We are here to walk you through every step. Whether you are on the executive board or not, there will always be a place for you in WIB and plenty of leadership opportunities throughout the club. Our goal is to make this process as clear, fair, and easy as possible. Overall, we are so happy you want to be more involved and want to foster that interest as much as possible!

Tips for Success
Attend our workshops! Our goal is to give you every resource possible to successfully apply. We will be offering a resume, LinkedIn, and interview workshops this quarter to prepare you for this process. Either way, the election process will be a great learning opportunity to practice your job-landing skills and prepare for the real world.
Talk to current board members! It’s important to get a sense of what the board is like day-to-day and where you might fit best. Be sure to reach out and schedule a time at some point before interviews begin.
Read the job postings/positions carefully! The job postings contain important criteria we will be basing our decisions on. Be sure to make your application relevant to this criteria to ensure you are a great fit for the position.
